General Safety Consultant: (Full time Employee or 1099 Contractor)
Core Competencies:
- Bachelor Degree in a safety-related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Typically possesses five or more years of experience in maintenance or construction-related methods and standards; or performing investigatory and regulatory proceedings related to industrial safety, health, and claims litigation.
- Demonstrated experience performing field safety observations and taking appropriate corrective actions.
- Demonstrated knowledge of local, state, and federal safety and health regulations.
- Demonstrated experience interfacing with key stakeholders in order to provide solutions and recommendations.
- Demonstrated experience with safety procedures related to electrical maintenance and construction work.
- Must demonstrate excellent business mastery, including the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks and safety appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
- Must demonstrate excellent management mastery, including effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and staying current with relevant technology and innovation.
- Must demonstrate strong personal mastery, including ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.

Typical Responsibilities:
Assisting management in the development and implementation of safety strategies to achieve safety goals within the division and at the site level; providing consultation services and assistance to management, supervision, safety teams, and site personnel; providing technical expertise to the mechanical, electrical, and construction groups; establishing interpretations of Company and governmental rules and regulations in matters of occupational safety and health; advising on the appropriate use and limitations of safety equipment and initiates corrective actions; advising and approving the type of safety and/or environmental equipment to be utilized as well as purchased; leading industrial accident investigations and meetings by providing interpretation of rules and regulations, determining root causes, and recommending solutions; developing and/or conducts safety and/or environmental training programs, safety rules and safety manual revisions; performing ergonomic analyses and making recommendations for improvements in human factors as it relates to employee work stations and work areas; acting as the safety representative; participating in site safety meetings on a regular basis; and performing other duties as assigned.
