Safety Pro Tips: Check your LOTO Group lock boxes
|
Safety Pro Tip of the week:
Check your LOTO group boxes. Some older group lock boxes have a design flaw that still allows you to reach in and take keys. Check your group lock boxes to make sure they cannot be opened. |

Elsman Dam
As many of you no doubt have heard, we are now in a 5-year drought in California. It still rains however and last winter we were on a standby project that illustrated not only the power of Mother Nature, but also how quickly she can fill up a reservoir. Take a look at these daily time-lapse photos and watch the level rise.
Dual Hitch Davit Arm Mount
Davit Arms are very handy for putting up a winch and retrieval system for use in confined space projects. Here you can see how we put together a system for one of our clients. This configuration used a work truck as the counterweight, and we were then tasked with finding a hitch-mount splitter enabling us to attach not 1 but 2 davit arms and winches!
Clean Harbors of San Jose, a regular client of Enviro Safetech recently had a challenging equipment rental project that required us to creatively solve a dual Davit Arm winch retrieval systems problem. The tight access above the spill clean-up area required the two Davit Arms to support a side by side delivery and retrieval operation.
The goal was to use a single work truck as the counterweight to anchor the entire system. Using a dual hitch splitter, and the Davit Arm Hitch-Mount assembly, we were able to work out the necessary configuration to allow Clean Harbors to access the spill area within a small access.
See photos of this job, as well as a standard counterweight configuration of a Davit Arm below.
